Wiener Haus at 45° Parallelo in Moncalieri: one bite leads to another

A tough day at work, one of those heavy Tuesdays when you just want to clear your head and maybe eat something. When that happens on my way back from Turin, I stop at the 45° Parallelo — a place that lets me mind my own business without being disturbed or noticed too much by anyone. But by nine in the evening the hunger starts making itself felt. I wander between the shops and restaurants, smoking a cigarette, and find myself standing in front of the Wiener Haus. I read the menu posted outside and think — why not, a slice of pizza and a beer. So I decide to go in.
The guy at the counter is talking to another customer. I ask if it's possible to eat something — he looks up with a smile and says of course. Within a few minutes I order a medium amber beer and a slice of pizza with Prague ham and mozzarella.
The first bite is crispy, harmonious and a pleasant invitation to take a second. A pizza al pala that truly lives up to the saying — one bite leads to another. I finish the pizza but not the beer, which gives me the perfect excuse to try the margherita. As I expected, it arrives stretchy and flavourful — the ideal way to end the evening before heading home.
Then they ask me: dessert or coffee? I answer with a small amber and a half pala with spicy salami — just to finish in style.
The staff was kind and attentive, perhaps a little puzzled by the strange guy who had asked about the size of the pizza before ordering his first slice and then ended up having three — not out of hunger anymore, but because one bite truly leads to another.
Alone or with company, I will definitely come back to try more of what the Wiener Haus has to offer. The perfect spot for a quick snack, a lunch break or the start of an evening out near Turin.
